the thing i want to say here about chester bennington is that i know when a celebrity whos helped a lot of ppl through hard times commits suicide, its very easy to get caught up in this spiral of “well if he couldnt do it what does that mean for me?”

and i want to remind people that as sad as this is, it doesnt have any repercussions on your own ability to make it through whatever you’re going through.

this whole situation is in a spotlight yeah but chester bennington was struggling same as anybody else, you know? hes just a guy, a person. sometimes people dont come out the other end of this stuff as well as we’d hope. ive known a lot of people who’ve attempted in the past and pulled through. a lot of people don’t.

anybody who has any form of chronic suicidality knows that that is a struggle you fight with constantly. it is a tragedy that he died, that he killed himself, but that doesn’t mean your struggles have to be fruitless or that they will be fruitless. every year, every month, every week, every day you keep living is a victory.

if you listen to his music in retrospect, it’s pretty clear he’d had these kinds of struggles for a while, but he made it to 41. its sad that anybody dies in middle age or younger but when every days a struggle we have to remember that that number is a lot of victories too.

mourn chester bennington but don’t let his death be a reason to give up. keep fighting your fight. just because he died doesnt mean you have to.
